Keeping your IVVN profile up to date

Your IVVN member profile helps the veterinary vaccinology community find out who is working on which animal diseases, host species, and different disciplines and vaccine development stages. It is important that your profile contains your current organisation, your position within the organisation, a photograph (either of you or of something you work on), a short biography and your interests within veterinary vaccinology.

This information must be kept up to date. Your profile details may be used to determine your eligibility for attending IVVN events and for applying for catalyst funding.

How do I update my profile?

To update your IVVN profile, log in to the members section and click 'Edit' on your profile page. If you cannot remember your login details, you can find a link to generate a new password on the login page. If you are having difficulty logging in, contact the IVVN team by emailing IVVN [at] roslin [dot] ed [dot] ac [dot] uk.

We have included some tips below on how to get the most out of your IVVN profile.

Displaying your name correctly

Your name will be displayed at the top of your profile. This should be written with only the first letter of each name capitalised. We recognise that name structures differ around the world, but where applicable, enter your given name in the 'First name' field and your surname, such as a family name, in the 'Last name' field.

The title field is optional but may be useful if you have a title related to a qualification or your profession (ie Dr or Professor).

Uploading a photograph

While it may seem less important than other fields, your IVVN profile should include a photograph. If you prefer not to have a photo of you displayed on the site, you can upload a picture of something you work on instead. Having a photo on your profile will make members more likely to click on it, especially on the members directory page, where blank profiles look unfinished.

Professional details

Your profile should tell other members what you do and where you work. Type in your job title (or a very brief description of your role if you have no official title) in the first field and select a career stage from the dropdown list – if none of the options perfectly describe your role, choose the one that matches most closely. This is one of the fields that can be used to filter the members directory, so if you don't select a career stage, users of the directory may miss your profile.

You will also be required to list your current institution. Please just give the name of the organisation here. In the following address fields, please give the location of your institution. This will ensure your profile appears correctly on our members map.

Biography

This field should be used to write a brief introduction to who you are and what you do, and it should be written as a paragraph. If you are unsure about what to include, please contact the IVVN team for assistance.

Research interests

To make it easy for users to filter the members directory, we have included a list of common research interests that members can choose from. These include host species, pathogen/parasite species, disciplines and stages of vaccine development. Please select all that apply to your work.

There is also a text box where you should give a very brief (one or two sentences) to describe your interests in veterinary vaccinology.

The final text box gives you a space to list the research projects you are currently working on. This is not a requirement, but it may help users find your profile when they search using keywords.
