Mr. Bwihangane Birindwa Ahadi is a Congolese from the Democratic Republic of Congo, born on 20th December. He holds a BSc. Agricultural Sciences and Environmentales studies (from 2006-2011), MSc. One Health Molecular Biology (from 2013-2015)awarded by the department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro, Tanzania. His master’s programme was sponsored by the SACIDS (Southern African Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance) program. He joined his PhD studies at the University of Nairobi in Molecular Virology since 2015 and completed in 2018 under a jointly support from the Biosciences eastern and central Africa- International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI), The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM),International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA-IDRC) and the “Université Evangelique en Afrique (UEA)” to study molecular characterization, seroprevalence, risk factors and socio-economic impact of peste des petits ruminants (PPR) known as “goat’s plague disease” in both goats and sheep genotypes in South Kivu, DRC.As a Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA) fellow, he was both lecturing and supervising student at both Université Evangélique en Afriqueand theUniversity of Nairobi.

Mr. Bwihangane has been working with Université Evangélique en Afrique (www.uea.ac.cd) as a lecturerin charge of teachings and research for the past seven years (From January 2012 to date) in the fields of agriculture and livestock. He has supervised over 50 Bachelor finalists students for their final special projects. This position predisposes him to a lot of work on adaptive research to help farmers adopt appropriate technology to enhance household food security and improved socio economic status. His research interest is mainly in the fields of Molecular Virology, Vaccinology, Functional Genomics, Molecular Genetics and Epidemiology of both animals and human infectious diseases. I am currently studying the molecular biological characteristics of emerging and re-emerging viruses of public health and food security importance focusing on the development of new generation and tailored biological and/or vaccines against viral diseases.He is more inspired in One Health approach to address health issues in both plant-animal-human and environment interface area. He is an author of several pure reviewed publications and 1 book in his fields of research. Currently he is doing a post-doc under Wajao-Ruforum capacity building program where he is in charge of mentoring several postgraduates’ students (Masters and PhD)
