Biography

I am having a Veterinary Medicine background with a DVM degree earned from University of Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. I worked briefly with the Yobe State Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Development as an Area Veterinary Officer in charge of Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe State, Nigeria. After some few years working with the State Ministry, I earned a commonwealth shared scholarship to study MSc degree in Veterinary Epidemiology jointly taught by the Royal Veterinary College and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.  After successful completion of the MSc degree, I joined the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria as a faculty member. Following 2 years of teaching and research, I enrolled in the Department of Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia for a doctoral degree in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health. On successful completion of the PhD degree and returning back to Nigeria, I got promoted to a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Maiduguri. Currently, I am teaching and supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students on a number of courses and projects related to Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health.

Research interests

Veterinary epidemiology, biostatostics, vaccine production, antimicrobial resistance among foodborne pathogens, genetic diversity of foodborne pathogens and multidrug resistance.
