Biography

Dr. Pervaiz Dar is an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Immunology at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in Kashmir (SKUAST-K), India. He recieved DVM from SKUAST-K in year 2006 and later on specialised in Veterinary Immunology with Master's and PhD from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in year 2008 and 2012, respectively. During PhD, he recieved prestigeous Fulbright Fellowship from U.S. Department of State to study Natural Killer cell responses against Foot-and-Mouth Disease virus (FMDV) in Dr. Bill Golde Laboratory at Plum Island Animal Disease Center in New York. After fellowship, Dr. Dar returned to Kashmir, where he was accepted for faculty position in his alma mater SKUAST-K. Dr. Dar's research is extensively focused on FMDV immunology and vaccinal responses. While continuing work on FMDV, Dr. Dar has recently expanded his focus on other viral diseases of veterinary importance including Avain Infectious Bronchitis, Infectious Bursal Disease and Ovine Contagious Ecthyma. Dr. Dar is currently on Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Toledo, with Dr. Juan Jaume, where he is involved in developing immunological countermeasures against human Type I diabetes. Immunology with special focus on viral Immunity and vaccine induced immunity.
