Biography

Julia is a clinical research fellow currently reading for a DPhil at the University of Oxford, using a novel challenge model to better understand the human immune response to Mycobacterial infection. She is based in the Tuberculosis (TB) vaccine programme at the Jenner Institute, headed by Professor Helen McShane. The group works closely with collaborators at Public Health England and the Animal Plant Health Agency, to run parallel studies in non-human primates and cattle.

Julia’s background is a primary care physician with sub-specialties in public health and tropical medicine. She has experience working in Kenya, Tanzania and Papua New Guinea and prior to coming to Oxford worked under Professor Heath in paediatric vaccine trials at St George’s, University of London.
