Biography

Teresa Freire, PhD in Biology (2003), is an associate professor of Immunology at the Immunobiology Departament of the School of Medicine (University of the Republic) in Montevideo, Uruguay. She is the group leader of the Immunomodulation and Vaccine development lab interested in investigating immune regulatory mechanisms induced by tumor cells and parasites, in particular triggered by carbohydrates. Another lab´s interest is the identification of molecules that mediate immunoregulation and the develpment of vaccines against fasciolosis or cancer. She has supervised 6 undergraduate theses, 9 M. Sc. theses and 2 Ph. D. theses. Nowadays her group is composed by master and PhD students and post-doctoral fellows.
