Biography
Beatrice Muriuki is a Kenyan female scientist. She holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases in the University of Ghana and a master's degree in Immunology from Kenyatta University. Her research focus is identification of potential immunotherapy and prophylactic vaccine targets for treatment of infectious and non-communicable diseases of human concern. By applying her acquired skills, and training, she has investigated impaired immune responses in patients with endemic Burkitt lymphoma. Her current research is investigating vaccine targets for Lyme disease.
Research interests
My research interests are in immunotherapeutic and prophylactic vaccine product discovery and process development. We use humanized mice and convalescent humans to discover monoclonal antibodies. We use the monoclonal antibodies to identify epitopes in the bacteria that are recognized by the antibodies. These epitopes have prophylactic and diagnostic potential.
