I,Rupal Ojha, am Research scholar at Department of Biochemistry, Central University of Rajasthan. I am pursuing my Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Vijay Kumar Prajapati. Currently, our laboratory is majorly working on vaccine development against visceral leishmaniasis, a deadly parasitic infectious disease. Till date there is no effective vaccination is available for the treatment of this severe infection. Nevertheless, we are focused on the development of a cost-effective and safe multi-epitope subunit vaccine against this parasitic disease along with drug discovery. We designed the subunit vaccine by utlizing immunoinformatic as well as reverse vaccinology approaches. The goal of this is to restrict VL replication in the host by making the host produce T and B-cells and antibodies against the parasite, ultimately reducing parasite burden and alleviate disease symptoms swiftly.
