Biography

Rachel is a postdoctoral research scientist at the Jenner Institute, a Fulford Junior Research Fellow in Medicine at Somerville College and a Lecturer in Human Sciences at Wadham College, University of Oxford. She previously completed an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and DPhil in Clinical Medicine, also at University of Oxford. Rachel has since worked on vaccine immunology and biomarkers of protection, initially in HIV and now TB/bovine TB.

Research interests

Immune correlates of protection and the host immune response to TB vaccination, with a focus on the development of functional mycobacterial growth inhibition assays (MGIAs). The role of antibodies in vaccine-induced protection and understanding the variation in vaccine immunogenicity observed in different populations.
