Biography

Dione hold a DVM, MSc in environmental Sciences and a PhD in Medical Sciences with focus on Epidemiology of animal diseases. He joined ILRI's Animal and Human Health Program in 2012.  His research focus on assessing animal health constraints through field surveys, participatory methods and biological sampling; as well as developing and testing interventions that aim at controlling animal diseases in East and West Africa. Currently Dione's area of reseach focus on how to improve herd health through improved control strategies for transboundary animal diseases such as African swine fever and Peste des Petits Ruminants in smallholder livestock systems in sub-Saharan Africa. Dione is also involved in research on delivery of animal health services such as vaccines and antimicrobial resistance associated with drug use in livestock.
