Biography

Dr. Karim conducts fundamental and applied research focused on decoding the salivary armamentarium of tick vectors using molecular, physiological, biochemical, pharmacological, and computational tools. The overall goal of ongoing research in Dr. Karim's laboratory is to dissect the tripartite interactions between arthropod vectors, their pathobiome (pathogens & microbiome), and pathogens their transmit to their mammalian hosts.

Research interests

The research in Dr. Karim's laboratory focuses on understanding the tripartite interactions between tick vectors, their pathogens, and their vertebrate hosts.

Projects you're working on

1) Characterization of Tick-pathogen-host interactions, 2) understanding the role of tick bites in alpha-gal syndrome
