Biography
I have been working as an animal scientist for the last 12 years. I have done my PhD in Animal Genetics and Breeding, and I have been actively involved in research, teaching and extension as the three main mandates of our institute. I have been working with hilly tribal women livestock farmers for the past 12 years. My work has been widely recognized, and I have been privileged to receive 15 international fellowships, which have allowed me to attend various events organized by reputable organizations such as FAO (United Nations) and participate in conferences around the globe. In addition, I have authored 4 books on topics related to my field of expertise, and I have developed a successful poultry mobile app for farmers and entrepreneurs. My app has been widely used and has received positive feedback from users, contributing to the advancement of the livestock industry. I have published more than 100 papers in the form of research papers, articles, and newspaper columns. I have also done international projects with various funding organizations Furthermore, I have extensive experience in collaborating with researchers from around 30 different countries, participating in various training conferences, workshops, and programs. This has provided me with a global perspective and a deep understanding of different cultures and practices related to livestock farming and animal welfare.
Research interests
I am excited to contribute my skills and knowledge to your esteemed organization and be a part of the cutting-edge field of livestock production. Throughout my career, I have focused on unravelling the intricate genetic makeup of animals, analysing data, and making valuable contributions to genetic research. I possess a strong foundation in animal science, with expertise in utilizing bioinformatics tools and technologies to extract meaningful insights from vast genomic datasets. My deep understanding of animal genetics, combined with my proficiency in bioinformatics analysis, has allowed me to make significant contributions to various research projects in the field. During my tenure as a Scientist in Animal Genetics, I successfully led multiple research initiatives that aimed to unravel the genetic basis of complex traits in various animal species. I have been actively involved in designing experiments, collecting and analysing genomic data, and interpreting results using advanced bioinformatics tools and algorithms. My work has resulted in the publication of several research papers in reputable scientific journals, further establishing my expertise in the field. I am also guiding students in genetics and teaching courses for undergraduate, post graduate and PhD Student like bioinformatics, animal genomics, transgenic animal production, molecular genetics, selection method and breeding system, biometrical genetics, animal cytogenetics and immunogenetics etc. Currently I am handling around11projects funded by different organizations and successfully completed one international project in Vietnam. I have a direct hand on experience of working in molecular and worked with various molecular techniques. In my Phd, I worked on molecular characterization of Poonchi chicken and characterization of immune related genes in poultry This breed is the first breed from the Jammu province to be characterized and registered. My masters research topic was “Detection of coagulation factor XI gene deficiency in Dairy cattle and was undertaken with 2 main objectives for Identification of Coagulation FXI gene deficiency in NDRI herd and to relate FXI gene deficiency with increased incidence of repeat breeding in dairy cattle. I have also developed a mobile application with more than 10K users. I have also attended numerous events in Europe and already having Schengen visa.I am sharing my application for consideration.
