Dr. Ajoke Ehimiyein holds a PhD in Small Animal Infectious Diseases and an MSc in Veterinary Medicine from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She is currently a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and her research area is infectious diseases. Her PhD research was to study the host-pathogen reaction of dogs to Babesia canis vogeli and the effects of treatment with imidocarb dipropionate and or alpha-lipoic acid in canine babesiosis. Her MSc research was on comparative evaluation of direct rapid immunohistochemistry test and other conventional tests in the diagnosis of rabies, which was carried out at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Rabies Section, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Currently I am an Out of Africa post-doctoral fellow working on the use of laboratory models and a range of immunological and microscopic techniques to investigate important aspects of immune-related pathology in the intestine during malaria infection. This is in collaboration with Prof. Eleanor Riley and Dr. Thompson of the University of Edinburgh.
