Biography

Currently I am working as a MSCA fellow at Agri-Food and Bioscience Institute (AFBI), Belfast, Northern Ireland. My research work focuses on deciphering the interactions between viruses and bacteria in the guts of chickens leading to possible dysbiosis (bacterial imbalance) which may allow pathogenic bacteria to gain a foothold thereby impacting chickens’health and weight gain using NGS technologies. Previously, I was working as a Scientist in Wildlife Genomics Research Project, at Forest Department, Government of Gujarat where I was involved in conservation of Threatened/endangered/Vulnerable wildlife species like Asiatic lions, Vultures, using molecular biology-based tools. Disease diagnosis, like CDV, PPRV, etc. also involved in Genepool conservation of wildlife species. I have also worked as a Research Associate at Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat India. As a part of those previous research studies, I have identiļ¬ed genes and components of the enteric microbiota associated with high or low FCR in broiler chickens and identified pathways that can determine the probable effects of host pathogen interactions, which may lead on to genome directed methods of disease control in poultry.
