Biography

I worked as a Consultant with the International Livestock Research Institute in collaborative project ILRI-ICAR (AMR) Project “Assessment of antimicrobial residues and resistant bacteria in dairy animals in India” for 2 years, Junior Research Fellow in the DBT-Antimicrobial Resistance Project for 3 years and other research experiences with respect to Public Health, Master in Science with specialization in Biotechnology and Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental and Sustainable Development I have a broader knowledge on working with various infectious diseases of livestock their trend and environmental stress. My research areas in the past included “Molecular characterization and Epidemiological Modelling of Antimicrobial Resistance at the interface of Human-Plant-Pathogen continuum under DBT twining Programme for NE”. Specifically, I worked on Antimicrobial Resistance from the food of animal origin, mechanism of drug resistance, residual analysis and food safety as JRF (2013-2016) at Division of Animal Health, ICAR RC NEH Shillong. Simultaneously I worked on an institute project of the same PI and submitted an M.Sc. thesis entitled “Studies on Lactic Acid Bacteria isolated from Traditional Fermented Food of North-East India with Special Reference to food safety and Anti-microbial Resistance” at the Division of Animal Health, ICAR RC NEH, Shillong. (2012-2016). I have worked as Research Assistant under the “Project Directorate on Animal Disease Monitoring and Surveillance” in Meghalaya where I was actively involved in active and passive surveillance in Meghalaya (2012-2013). I have an experience in Repository handling and maintenance of culture (ATCC/field isolates) and worked in close association with Lactic acid bacteria (more than 30 species), Pseudomonas spp., Acinetobacter spp. E.coli, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. Besides this my work involved Maintenance of BD Pheonix Automated Bacterial Identification system, Handling of –LC-MS/MS, RT-PCR, PCR, FACS, Nanodrop, ELISA Reader. Was actively involved in a number of Health Camps under Tribal Sub plans (TSP). I have trained a number of PhD. and Master students in GLP and other research areas. My research contributions are reflected in some publications in peer-reviewed international/national journals. The research working knowledge on human and livestock diseases is a challenge and would provide one an opportunity to learn the zoonotic diseases that occur at the human/animal interface. Hence, my past experiences are ideal for conceiving and implementing the surveillance/research strategies and providing efficient training for various stakeholders under the Global One Health Concept.
