Biography

I am Elize du Piesanie.  I am currently a researcher at Onderstepoort Biological Products in South Africa.  I finished my B-Tech Veterinary microbiology degree in the year 1991 and is currently busy with a Masters of Science degree in Biotechnology.  During my career years at OBP, I was mostly involved with the management of bacterial seed material, and project leader in the development of new bacterial combination vaccines and improvement of bacterial vaccines.  I therefore got extensive knowledge on the writing of proposals, study protocols, scientific reports, vaccine technology which involved animal clinical trials, ethics and dossier compilation for vaccine registration.   One vaccine dossier was submitted in 2019 and another will be submitted by end of 2021.

Research interests

Adjuvant technology, Vaccine development, In vitro test methods as alternative to in vivo test methods (with special interest in mode of action of formulation with more than 2 virulence factors), which correlates with actual challenge models in experimental animals as well as target animals.  Immunology.

Projects you're working on

Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis vaccine for use in sheep and goats produced on methods not published before with challenge models similar to published articles, but different challenge techniques.
