Biography

Dr. Norfitriah Mohamed Sohaimi is currently a Senior Lecturer of Virology at the Department of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosis, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She received her undergraduate degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Programme from Universiti Putra Malaysia in year 2012, and obtained her PhD in Virology field from the same university in year 2017 with excellent grades. Two years after graduation, Dr. Norfitriah was offered for Senior Lecturer position in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Currently, she actively involved in research, teaching and professional services in her university under virology field mainly for poultry diseases and vaccine development. She actively involved in research for development of conventional fowl adenovirus serotype 8b vaccine in Malaysia. Her research interest in avian viruses includes vaccinology, molecular biology for characterization of viral genes, application of cell cultures and embryonated chicken eggs for virus cultivation and immunology field.

Research interests

1) Development of inactivated fowl adenovirus vaccine in chickens

2) Development of live attenuated fowl adenovirus vaccine in chickens

3) Molecular characterization of fowl adenovirus for detection of virulence genes associated with virus infectivity

4) Pathogenicity and immunogenicity of avian viruses

5) Primary cell culture preparation for poultry vaccine and virus propagation
