Biography

I am Fiyinfoluwa Ola-Daniel, a Veterinarian, with a first degree in Veterinary Medicine, from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. I possess two Masters Degrees: Masters in Veterinary Vaccine Production and Quality Control from the Pan African University life and Earth Sciences Institutes, University of Ibadan; and Masters in Veterinary Public Health from the University of Ibadan, where I was eligible to proceed for a PhD. Aside my academic qualifications, I have also had the opportunity to partake in several projects, which focused on surveillance of some infectious and Zoonotic diseases, particularly Bovine Tuberculosis, Taeniasis, Brucellosis, Q- Fever and Peste des petits Ruminants virus in human or animal populations in various regions of Nigeria which aimed to prevent or control the spread of these diseases. These were achieved during the period of my current work as a Research Associate at the DAMIEN Foundation, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, my time as a Research Assistant at the Tuberculosis and Brucellosis Laboratory, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan and the period of my Masters’ Projects. Furthermore, my MSc project was on ‘Molecular Detection on Peste des Petits ruminants virus in goats, sheep and commercial Peste des Petits ruminants vaccines in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria’.

I have co-authored some publications on topics related to animal health. Presently, I am a co-author of three peer reviewed publications titled ‘Porcine Cysticercosis in slaughtered pigs and factors related to Taenia solium transmission amongst abattoir workers in Ibadan, Nigeria’, ‘Seroprevalence and associated factors of Brucellosis and Q-Fever in cattle from Ibarapa Area, Oyo State, South-Western Nigeria’, both published in the Pan African Medical Journal and ‘Seroprevalence of brucellosis and Q-fever infections amongst pastoralists and their cattle herds in Sokoto State, Nigeria’ published in PLoS ONE Journal. I also have one first authored and two co-authored papers (in Progress), submitted to PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases and Veterinaria Italiania Journals. Furthermore, I have attended several Seminars on relevant topics such as Research Methodology and associated issues, Vaccines and Bio-informatics-Embracing the future; amongst many others.
As an individual, I love to conduct or partake in effective and innovative researches in new and evolving areas of Medicine and Science. While I have the ability to work independently, I also love to work in a team environment.

As a dynamic Public Health Veterinarian and Vaccine production expert. I have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal relation skills. I have quality managerial and administrative skills. I have the ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure and I am Detail- oriented. I am result-oriented and possess analytical thinking skills. All of these make me a suitable candidate for the referenced Project.

Finally, in the nearest future, I aim to become a renowned Vaccinologist and researcher, relevant and proffering solutions in the field of Medicine and public Health; with specialty in the area of infectious and zoonotic diseases.
