Biography

Dr.Raja Angamuthu completed B.V.Sc in 1991 from Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI), Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, India, a constituent college of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS). He completed M.Sc (Biotechnology) in 1994 from the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India and Ph.D in Animal Biotechnology from TANUVAS in 2006. He joined as Assistant Professor in TANUVAS in 1997 and has been elevated to the Professor in 2012 after serving in different units of TANUVAS. During 2016-2023, worked in Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI), Namakkal, TN as Professor of Veterinary Microbiology and Prof and Head of Education cell of VCRI, Namakkal. Currently working as Professor in the Dept. of Animal Biotechnology in Madras Veterinary College, Chennai, TN 

Dr.Raja Angamuthu has completed so far 16 research projects funded by different National funding agencies such as Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science and Technology, India Council for Agricultural Research and International Agencies like BBSRC, UK, UKIERI, UK etc as Co-Principal Investigator as well as Principal Investigator. He has published 52 research articles including 25 research articles in peer reviewed international research journals and 27 research articles in peer reviewed national research journals. 

Dr.Raja Angamuthu has received 4 National Awards, 2 State Awards and a University Award for his professional career and got a patent.

Research interests

Molecular Epidemiology of Avian infectious bronchitis virus; Molecular Epidemiology of Marek's disease virus; Development of Multiepitope based vaccines for poultry diseases (IBV & ILTV); Development of diagnostics for poultry viral diseases

At present involved in Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi project on “Establishment of a Consortium for One Health to address Zoonotic and Transboundary Diseases in India, including the Northeast Region”
