Biography

Dr Yakhya Dieye obtained his PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University Paris-Sud, Orsay, France in 2002. After his PhD, Dr Dieye held postdoctoral positions in the USA at the Ohio State University and at the Biodesign Institute, Arizona State University. Dr Dieye worked also as a Senior Scientist at Ondek Pty Ltd an Australian start-up company founded by Nobel Prize winner Prof Barry Marshall from 2009 to 2013. Following this experience in the private sector, Dr Dieye held a Visiting Senior Research Fellow position at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 2013 to 2015. Dr Dieye returned to his native country, Senegal in 2015 where he is a faculty at the Polytechnic School, University Cheikh Anta Diop, and since 2020 the Head of the Pole of Microbiology at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar. Dr Dieye’s main expertise is in bacterial genetics and molecular biology. His research interests include bacterial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, vaccine and microbiome.

Development of vaccine delivery platforms for humans and animals. Arboviruses and hemorrhagic fever viruses. Pathogenesis of invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella. Pathogenesis of Helicobacter pylori.
