Biography

Dr Agnes T. Laleye is a Veterinary Research Officer wit the National Veterinary Research Institute, Vom Plateau State Nigeria. She obtained her PhD from the University of Pretoria, South Africa where she worked on Avian influenza under the supervision of Prof. Celia Abolnik and a core member of the Avian Influenza Research team in NVRI for over 10 years with significant results. My involvement includes sample collection from different poultry species in farms, live bird markets and wetlands; and laboratory analyses (classical and molecular virology). I have also been involved in genetic characterization of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses. My research activities have also involved monitoring avian influenza viral emergence, surveillance and diagnosis of emerging infectious disease such as COVID-19, Lassa fever, Rabies, and other arboviruses using various techniques such as cell culture, virus titration in embryonated chicken eggs, PCR and animal inoculation. Dr. Laleye has also been involved in viral vaccine production and quality assessment of veterinary vaccines including sterility, purity, potency and safety using various techniques
