Biography
My name is Joseph Elisha from plateau state in the North Central part of Nigeria. I studied veterinary medicine at the prestigious Faculty of veterinary medicine, University of Jos Nigeria between the year 2015 and 2022. I graduated with a distinction in Veterinary Microbiology, veterinary physiology and veterinary pathology. These alongside being the best graduating student in these same departments and others. I served my fatherland in the one year compulsory National youth Service Corps in 2023 and then in 2024 I got a position of a research assistant with the department of veterinary Microbiology under the National Research Fund(TETFUND) awarded to my principal investigator Professor P. H Bamaiyi. I am currently working on the prevalence and molecular characterisation of Brucella species in small ruminants from selected states in Northern Nigeria. This is just a part of the bigger project of developing a DNA vaccine against small ruminant Brucellosis in Nigeria. Research interests
I am interested in zoonotic bacteria especially Brucellosis and vaccine development for the prevention of the disease in small ruminants and hopefully in companion animals(dogs) Projects you're working on
