Biography
        Dr Suresh H. Basagoudanavar works as Principal Scientist (Veterinary Microbiology) at Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), regional centre Bengaluru. He obtained PhD in Animal Biotechnology from IVRI, Izatnagar. He has over 22 years of research experience in the areas of molecular biology of microbial diseases of animals and humans, including 7 years of postdoctoral research experience at Penn State College of Medicine Hershey (USA) and Fox Chase Cancer Center Philadelphia (USA). He has over 50 peer reviewed research publications in internationally reputed journals. He has two Indian patents granted in the area of animal health and one Indian patent filed. He is working on foot-and-mouth disease, a highly contagious viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals. His current research interests are host-virus interactions, antiviral immunodiagnostics and vaccines.   Research interests
