Biography
Dr Matome Selina Matsiela is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization in Canada. Her current research project is focused on developing a multivalent subunit vaccine against an infectious Porcine viral disease. She completed her PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, in 2024. Matome worked at Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP), Pretoria in South Africa in the Research and Development Virology department from 2017 to 2024. While at OBP, she worked on vaccine development projects for infectious livestock diseases, including Lumpy Skin Disease, Rift Valley Fever and Bluetongue. Her research interests are centered in the area of livestock vaccines, vaccine formulation and delivery, virus inactivation for vaccine development and clinical trials.
