Biography
Ms Hellen is a Research Scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute Nairobi, Kenya and a Mawazo Institute MLeX 2021 PhD fellow. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Medical Parasitology and Entomology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya. Her research interest is the eco-epidemiological surveillance of vector-borne diseases. She has over ten years of expertise in the surveillance of emerging infectious mosquito-borne diseases such as Rift Valley Fever Virus, Dengue and Chikungunya virus that have caused outbreaks in different parts of the country. She has also been in involved in studies dealing tick-borne viruses and rickettsial infections. Early, in her career, she participated in an intergrated control program for sandflies in Baringo County where Visceral Leishmaniasis is prevalent.
