Biography
I am Gabriela Calamante, a molecular biologist with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires. My research focuses on the development of biotechnology-based vaccines using non-replicative viral vectors, particularly poxviruses (canarypox, modified vaccinia Ankara [MVA], and fowlpox) and human adenovirus type 5 ΔE. At INTA, I led the establishment of vector production platforms and their application in the design of vaccine candidates targeting viral, bacterial, and parasitic pathogens affecting animal health. These efforts are framed within the One Health approach, aiming to address zoonotic and transboundary infectious diseases through innovative immunization strategies.
