Biography
Dr.J.Sivakamavalli I am a dedicated researcher and academic with extensive experience in Aquatic Animal Health, specializing in marine animal immunology, genomics, proteomics, and computational analysis of biological macromolecules. After completing my Ph.D. in Aquatic Animal Health from Alagappa University, he embarked on a distinguished career in research and academia. In postdoctoral journey began with a fellowship at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, where he worked under the mentorship of Prof. Chu Fang Lo. During this period, he gained valuable insights into molecular biology and deepened my expertise in marine organisms' health dynamics. This was followed by an opportunity to work as an Institutional Postdoctoral Fellow on a Japanese-funded project at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), Taiwan, where he focused on miRNA regulation in White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV). My work in this area provided significant contributions to understanding the molecular mechanisms behind viral infections in marine animals. Then advanced in my academic journey as a National Postdoctoral Fellow (N-PDF) in Marine Science at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India. This role further honed my expertise in marine immunology and the genomics of marine invertebrates, expanding my research on the immune responses of these organisms. My next academic adventure took him to Chonnam National University in South Korea, where he served as a Research Scientist. Here, he worked on cutting-edge research in marine animal health, particularly focusing on the computational analysis of marine genomes and proteins. In addition to my research contributions, I had a passion for teaching, hence I was associated with teaching program at the Department of Biotechnology & Microbiology, National College, Tiruchirappalli, where I get a chance to explore further refined my teaching skills and mentored students in the areas of biotechnology, microbiology, and marine science. Currently, am working as an Associate Professor in the Biotechnology Lab within the Department of Orthodontics at Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, where I continue my research on the immunology of marine invertebrates and teach courses related to biotechnology and bioinformatics. My research is supported by the DST-SERB POWER grant, a prestigious funding award for my innovative work in marine animal health. I have made substantial and remarkable contributions to the scientific community, with over 94 publications, including 25 book chapters, as an editor I have published 3 books (2 are in process) and has received three prestigious awards from prominent central research institutes (INSA VSP). My research integrates advanced computational methods to study the molecular mechanisms of immunity in marine organisms, with implications for both environmental sustainability and biomedical applications. I have driven by a passion for bridging the gap between marine biology, bioinformatics, and modern computational techniques, aiming to enhance the understanding of marine ecosystems and contribute to the development of novel strategies for the protection and conservation of marine life. !
