Biography
I completed my PhD at the University of Sydney, investigating disease resistance and the genomics of highly polymorphic immune genes. I have held EMBO and NHMRC fellowships at the University of Cambridge developing vaccine strategies in wildlife, with a focus on the transmissible cancer Devil Facial Tumour Disease in Tasmanian devils. I joined the University of Southampton in 2013 as a Lecturer and built a built a program of research in vaccine development for wildlife. In 2022 I joined the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture & Food Innovation (University of Queensland) bringing a broad range of experience across immunology and genetics. My current interests lie in developing and testing novel vaccines against ectoparasites in cattle with global application. In 2025 I was awarded a Fellowship (mid-career) from the Australian Research Council.
Research interests
My current interests lie in parasitology, with a focus on tropical/sub-tropical agriculture. We have projects developing and testing novel vaccines against ectoparasites in cattle with global application. We are also running projects investigating the molecular mechanisms driving resistance to chemicals in cattle ticks.
