Dr. Atasoy is a virologist specialising in molecular virology, viral pathogenesis, and vaccine research. He studies animal and zoonotic viruses (avian, bovine, ovine, bat) and human pathogens such as monkeypox and SARS-CoV-2. His work spans virus detection, genetics, and CRISPR/Cas9 and Cre–lox systems, as well as developing diagnostic kits (RPA, LAMP, ELISA, LFD) for disease surveillance in animals and humans.
