I completed a BSc. (Hons) degree in Biology at Keele university followed by a MSc. degree in Aquatic Pathobiology at the University of Stirling, Institute of Aquaculture. In 2013 I completed a PhD. at the Institute of Aqauculture, University of Stirling developing DIVA vaccination approaches for fish using infectious salmon anaemia in Atlantic salmon and Koi herpesvirus in Koi/common carp as models. I have since worked on development of vaccines for Sea lice as part of a co-fundede project between Zoetiz animal health and the Technology Stratgy board. I have since worked on advancing mucosal vaccination for salmonids with particular emphasis on Atlantic salmon using furunculosis and vibriosis as models. This has involved immersion and particularly oral vaccination approaches with boosters, and determining the mechanisms underlying protection. Amongst my core research interests I have also been involved in projects on Argulosis, salmon alphavirus, amoebic gill disease, sea lice repellant strategies and francisella vaccination in tilapia. 

My ultimate interest is the development of mucosal vaccines for protection of fish against ectoparasites.
