Biography

 Gezahegne Mamo Kassa (DVM, MSc, PhD)  is an academician and researcher in field of  zoonotic infectious diseases at Addis Ababa University (AAU-Ethiopia) with full time academic position at rank of Associate professor  of Veterinary Public Health in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, Immunology and Public Health in College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture (CVMA/AAU) for the past 18years.  With background of Veterinary Medicine as a profession, he has acquired an extensive multidisciplinary knowledge in areas of microbiology, immunology and molecular epidemiology of zoonotic infectious diseases particularly of tuberculosis in human and livestock. He has been collaborating with national and international institutes working on zoonotic diseases. He has been involved as a principal investigator and co-investigator for six projects on zoonotic diseases (tuberculosis, brucellosis, MERS-CoV, tetanus, Anthrax) funded by national and international funding organization (Addis Ababa University, NIH, NUFU-Norway, Institute of Tropical Medicine-Antrewp Belgium, CIRAD-France).

Dr. Mamo has published more than 60 scientific publication on peer-reviewed journals and written book chapter on camel tuberculosis in Ethiopia. Dr. Mamo is a founding member of the African Vaccinology Network (AfVANET).

-Zoonotic disesaes-Bovine tuberculosis, Brucellosis,Anthrax, MERS-CoV -One health and Emerging infectious diseases -Control of Zoonotic diseases based on one health concept -Vaccine innovation and development
