Biography
The year 1971 saw the birth of Tesfaye Kassa in Ethiopia. In 1990 and 1998, he graduated with a diploma and a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology from Jimma University in Ethiopia, respectively. In 2004, he earned an M.Sc. in medical microbiology from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He graduated from Punjab University in Chandigarh, India, in 2013 with a Ph.D. in microbiology. He worked in the Jimma area at a health center as a medical laboratory technician in 1990. In 1992, he became a technical assistant in the school of medicine's Department of Medical Microbiology & Parasitology. He held the position of assistant lecturer in 1998. He worked as a lecturer in the same department. He has been an assistant professor at Jimma University's School of Medical Laboratory Science since January 2013. Enteropathogens, hepatitis, bacteriophage therapy, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are among his current research interests. Dr. Tesfaye has been a lifelong member of the Ethiopian Medical Laboratory Association and the Ethiopian Society for Microbiology. He has been a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) since 2007. He serves as the Ethiopian Society for Microbiology's vice president at the moment. In addition to publishing multiple scientific papers, he has conducted research projects with postgraduate students and overseen their progress.
