Biography

I graduated as a veterinarian surgeon from the University of Zaragoza, School of Veterinary Medicine (Spain) in 2006. I then relocated to the Netherlands where I completed my postgrad studies on Pathobiology and Comparative Pathology at the University of Utrecht.

Back to the University of Zaragoza I completed my training on Veterinary Pathology and received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) diploma in 2009.

Afterwards, I earned a PhD position at the University of León (Spain) where I joined the Fish Immunology Lab at the Molecular and Cell Biology Department. My research was focused on the development of new in vitro models for the screening of new DNA vaccines against Viral Haemorrhagic Septicaemia Virus using the rainbow trout/VHSV as a model for my studies.

After the completion of my doctoral studies I relocated in 2015 to the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling (UK) to work as a Postdoc on a project funded by BBSRC in collaboration with the University of St. Andrews and the Queen’s Medical Research Institute (UK). This project aimed to characterize a new cell-mediated immune response, termed ETosis, on Atlantic salmon.

In October 2017 I joined Hipra Scientific, a leader company on Animal Health prevention, and since work as a researcher and project leader on the development of vaccines for salmonids aquaculture.
