Biography

Fiona is Professor of Experimental Parasitology at the Royal Veterinary College, London.  She graduated with a BSc in Microbiology (1977) and PhD in Virology (1980) from the University of Manchester and her early research experience was in avian influenza, avian coronavirus and avian poxviruses.  For the past 30 years she has worked on parasites, particularly protozoa (Eimeria species) of poultry, with a focus on understanding how parasites invade host cells, identification of antigens that induce immune protection, and the development of anti-parasite vaccines.
