Biography
Dr. Liaqat Ali is serving as an Assistant Professor and Head Section of Microbiology and Immunology in the Department of Biological Sciences at National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS). He earned his PhD in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology as a DAAD Research Fellow from University of Freiburg, Germany as well as Post-Doc from the same University. Dr. Liaqat did his second Postdoc from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), UK in the field of Immunotechnolgy (Immunotherapeutics and diagnostics). He has won several national and international competitive research grants as PI and Co-PI from different funding agencies. His current research interests include Molecular Infection Biology (Human Infectious diseases), Immunotherapeutics and Diagnostics, RNAi Technology, Vaccine Development and Artificial Intelligence. In a very short span of his career, he has published around 75 articles (cumulative impact factor: ~1350) in leading peer reviewed journals, including The Lancet. He is now leading his independent research group and supervising Master and PhD students. Dr. Liaqat has established several international collaborations with leading scientists, serving as member of the editorial board and as reviewer of many highly reputed journals. He has presented his research in various international conferences and won several fellowships and awards to study and conduct research. His teaching interests include Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology and Virology. He is also serving on various committees and member of faculty and departmental board of studies at NUMS and various national Universities of Pakistan.

Molecular Infection Biology, Immunotherapeutics and diagnostics, Vaccine development, In vitro and in vivo infection models development and the use of Artificial Intelligence for detection, forecasting, and diagnosis of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
