Biography
Dr. Lucy Obonyo is a researcher/scientist/microbiologist/tutorial fellow and a champion for controlling antimicrobial resistance a current global threat. I'm a holder of Bsc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Msc. in Medical Microbiology, and PhD. in Medical Microbiology. I have wealth of experience in tuberculosis and HIV(diagnosis, resistance patterns, prevention /control and general management), this is in line with my previous assignment with Medecins sans Frontieres. My key areas of interest include; new TB vaccine production to help break the cycle of TB pandemic and thus advance health equity, antimicrobial resistance with focus in one health and antimicrobial profiling in tuberculosis. I'm a peer reviewer in the African society for Laboratory Medicine, I have a number of publications in international journals. I'm a team leader "Must Defeat Superbug's initiative", an initiative working towards controlling the spread of antimicrobial resistance, currently a global threat. Currently working with Family health options/Kibabii University as a consultant Microbiologist and tutorial fellow respectively. To Dr. Lucy any contribution in Science bring a huge difference in life and my focus is to be part of the team involved in attaining the sustainable development goal number 3(to ensure health lives and promote well being for all at all ages).
