Biography

Majeed Bakari Soale obtained a PhD in Natural sciences from Julius-Maximilian Universität Würzburg, Germany. He worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Nottingham on the development of a novel model system and accompanying genetic tools for the neglected livestock trypanosome, Trypanosoma vivax. He was subsequently awarded a Career Development fellowship by the Royal Society to further interrogate the biology of T. vivax. His research focuses on different aspects of the biology of African trypanosomes, mainly in parasite molecular biology, host pathogen interactions and regulation of gene expression.
