Biography
Mookkan Prabakaran obtained his M.Phil. in Biochemistry from the University of Madras, India, in 1999, and subsequently worked at the Department of Animal Biotechnology, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (1999–2001). He received his Ph.D. in Immunology in 2006 from Madurai Kamaraj University, India, through a bilateral Indo-German research program with Hannover Veterinary School, Germany. Following postdoctoral training in Immunology and Gene Therapy at I-Shou University, Taiwan, he joined Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL) as a Postdoctoral Fellow (2007–2009) and Research Fellow (2009–2010). He was appointed Manager of Strategic Research Program in 2011 and promoted to Principal Investigator in 2015. He is currently a Senior Principal Investigator at TLL, where his laboratory focuses on elucidating virus–host interactions during viral infection and developing novel vaccine strategies for emerging human and animal viruses, including those affecting aquatic animal health.
