Biography
My name is Silvia Fragoeiro, and I’m a biologist with a strong passion for advancing veterinary health through science and innovation. I hold an MSc in Toxicology and a PhD in Biotechnology, which provided a solid foundation for my career in biologics.
For 19 years, I worked at MSD Animal Health in a range of roles across Science & Technology and Manufacturing. During that time, I was involved in the development and transfer of veterinary vaccines targeting key pathogens such as Salmonella, Mycoplasma, and Clostridials. My work spanned from small-scale fermentation, downstream processing, assay development, to large-scale manufacturing—always with a focus on quality, efficacy, and global impact.
In December 2024, I joined ECO Animal Health as Head of Technology Transfer, Biologics. I now lead R&D initiatives to bring innovative veterinary vaccines from early-stage research through to commercialisation. I work at the interface of science and application, ensuring that promising biologics make a smooth transition from lab to market.
Throughout my career, I’ve also remained committed to improving animal health and welfare, and I actively support the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement.
