Biography
I am a PhD researcher in Animal Breeding and Genetics at the University of South Africa, with a focus on genome-wide characterization and scanning for resistance to viral infections in indigenous chicken ecotypes. My research interests span molecular epidemiology, genomics, vaccine development, and disease resistance in poultry. I am passionate about integrating genetic and epidemiological approaches to improve livestock productivity, enhance disease resilience, and support sustainable food systems across Africa. I am also pursuing an MSc in Epidemiology at the University of Edinburgh to strengthen my capacity in One Health research and zoonotic disease surveillance. Research interests
My research focuses on genetic diversity, host-pathogen interactions, and resistance mechanisms to viral infections in indigenous chickens. I am particularly interested in identifying candidate genes and molecular markers associated with disease resistance and vaccine response. My broader interests include molecular epidemiology of zoonotic pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, and the application of genomic tools for improving animal health and productivity in resource-limited farming systems.
