Biography

My name is Thao Thu Mai. I graduated PhD in Veterinary Science and Technology from the Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2022, at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. My PhD thesis focused on developing autogenous vaccines against Tilapia lake virus (TiLV), one of the aetiological agents causing the mortality up to 90% for tilapia industry. I tried vaccine treatments on broodstock and evaluated the systemic and mucosal immune responses after vaccination and how the maternal antibody can transfer to the offspring and protect them from TiLV infection. Since August 2023, I started my career as a postdoctoral research scientist in Aquaculture Research Group at Moredun Research Institute, Scotland . My passionate in vaccine development for aquaculture was continued with the Horizon project namely Cure4Aqua focusing on developing vaccine aganist Tenacibaculum maritimum, and high efficient antibodies against nervous necrosis virus to prevent horizonal transmission.
