13th International Veterinary Immunology Symposium
On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is our very great pleasure to announce the 13th International Veterinary Immunology Symposium (IVIS) to be held in the Kruger National Park, South Africa, from 8-12 August 2022.
The symposium is held every three years in association with the International Congress of Immunology and brings Industry, Government, and Academic specialists together to provide an update and overview of new, cutting-edge information in basic and applied veterinary immunology. Topics include protective immunity, vaccine strategies, and important disease targets in various animal species. The meeting is a combination of plenary sessions and concurrent sessions on a variety of relevant themes and includes workshops on reagents and tools for studies in various veterinary species.
The Kruger Park and surrounding rural areas are emblematic of both the opportunities and threats that co-exist at the interface of human societies, their domestic animals, free-living wildlife, and the environments that they inhabit. In the context of global change, improved and sustainable livestock systems and disease control are essential for commercial trade, subsistence farming, food safety and security, human wellbeing, and the conservation of ecosystem biodiversity. It is therefore imperative that veterinary immunology address research challenges through a “One World – One Health” perspective.
In this spirit, the IVIS 2022 will bring together experts from across the globe to share exciting results and insights into various aspects of veterinary immunology including biological mechanisms underlying host-pathogen interactions, vaccine and therapeutic strategies, innate and protective immunity, disease diagnosis and control, and reagent and methodological developments. This will be an opportunity for delegates from all relevant sectors to engage with leaders in the field and network in the comfort of a state-of-the-art conference facility situated in the heart of one of Africa’s iconic game reserves.
Our plans for the symposium will necessarily be informed by the unpredictable consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, we encourage you to mark your calendars and save the dates for IVIS 2022. Please register your interest in attending, by clicking here, to allow us to keep you updated with news of keynote speakers, registration arrangements, and symposium workshops as they become available.
We look forward to welcoming you all to South Africa in 2022.
