This global interactive webinar will be held on 30 June 2020 (14.00-16.15 Central European Summer Time) and is focused on the role of veterinary sciences to cope with, and prevent, future animal and zoonotic pandemics, with emphasis on the lessons learnt from Covid-19. The event, organised jointly by the Consultative Working Group for Animal Health & Welfare and STAR-IDAZ IRC, will start at 14.00 with a one-hour session of short talks to set the scene, followed by a round-table discussion. The discussion will see the participation of representatives of public research institutions, animal health industry and government. The discussion will encourage the exchange of innovative ideas, possible actions to support a public-private-partnership approach, new tools for financial support of research, and better define short-term strategies to give a new direction to animal health research agendas through collaboration between the different organizations.

The panel will include Professor Ilaria Capua (University of Florida, United States), Professor Linfa Wang (Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore), Dr Jean-Christophe Audonnet (Boehringer Ingelheim, France), Professor Mark Woolhouse (University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom), Alex Morrow (STAR-IDAZ IRC project office, United Kingdom), Professor Arjan Stegeman (Utrecht University, Netherlands), Dr Jean-Charles Cavitte (Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, European Commission), Dr Hein Imberechts (Sciensano, Belgium) and David Heymann (London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom), and will be moderated by Dr Stefano Messori (STAR-IDAZ/OIE).
