Journal Article Writing Course (2023)

In this course we cover how to plan, develop and write high-quality manuscripts for publication, using real-life examples. We show participants how to plan and draft research summaries for a technical and lay audience. We also discuss how to present data effectively in tables and figures and how to manage data for publications. Finally, we focus on the writing skills that participants need to succeed as a researcher: writing concisely, writing precisely, improving style, and finding the right tone for their audience. The course also teaches participants project management for manuscripts and the formal writing cycle (the process by which professional writers tackle a writing project), including how to edit and proofread your own work with useful software tips and tools. Our participants consistently report an increase in their confidence and writing quality – with an additional boost in publication rate – following our courses.
