SBRI: Vaccine development for potential epidemic diseases stage 1
Closing date: 12 July 2023
The UK Vaccine Network (UKVN) have opened a new research call for the development of vaccines and vaccine technologies for diseases with the potential to cause an epidemic in low and middle income countries; this work will be delivered by Innovate UK. The call is now open, and will close on the 12th of July.
Overview of call:
- Organisations can apply for a share of up to £25 million in funding to develop vaccine candidates and technologies targeting the UKVN’s priority pathogens. Proposals can address any part of the development pathway including pre-clinical, non-clinical development, manufacturing process design and phase 1 clinical trials.
- Projects will last for 24 months, with a maximum value of £2 million per project.
- This call is for stage 1 of a potential two stage competition. The decision to proceed with a stage 2 competition will depend on the outcomes from stage 1 and assessment of a separate application into a subsequent stage 2 competition.
- Lead applicants can be an organisation of any size; work alone or with others from business, research organisations, research and technology organisations or the third sector as subcontractors
- This competition is open to applicants from any country.
Projects must:
- Have vaccine candidates, platforms and technologies addressing a UKVN priority pathogen or Disease X
- Be Official Development Assistance (ODA) compliant, meaning projects may be carried out in high-income countries, but the primary aim of the research must be to improve the health, welfare or economic development of countries on the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list
