March 2018 Newsletter

19 Mar 2018

The March issue of the International Veterinary Vaccinology Network Newsletter is available here.

This month we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £600,000 from the Industry Strategy Challenge Fund to strengthen links between academic and industrial IVVN members. Also excitingly, our first call for laboratory exchange award applications is open. Awards of up to £10,000 are available to allow IVVN members to transfer expertise between laboratories, and the closing date for applications is 1st June 2018.

The newsletter also contains news from the wider community including researchers at Cardiff University developing the the world's first synthetic vaccine, which can be delivered orally, and an excellent article by Professor Heidi Larson: The Vaccine-Autism Myth Started 20 Years Ago. Here's Why It Still Endures Today.

There are lots of fantastic events coming up in 2018, including a fish immunology workshop and the European Veterinary Vaccinology Workshop 2018.

Funding opportunities include BactiVac catalyst funding, BBSRC-NRF Newton-Utafiti fund call in enhancing ruminant livestock productivity, and BBSRC David Phillips Fellowships.

The final countdown is on for the first meeting of the International Veterinary Vaccinology Network on the 26th & 27th March 2018 in the Ole Sereni Hotel, Kenya.

We will be tweeting throughout the meeting so please follow @IntVetVaccNet, and the hashtag #IVVNKenya18. Otherwise, our April Newsletter will contain news from this very exciting event!
